Goal breakdown

Give it a goal with a deadline and it breaks it into weekly steps; every Monday it tells you what to do this week, and every Friday it asks how it went.

Who it's for: People with something they want to get done who never know where to start.

What it does:

  • You tell it the goal, the deadline and roughly how much time you have each week, like "read 6 books in three months" or "sort out the photos on my phone by the end of the year."
  • It breaks the goal into weekly steps and writes them up as a plan for you to see.
  • Every Monday morning it tells you the few things to do that week, and every Friday evening it asks how far you got.
  • If you fall behind, it reworks the rest of the plan, shows it to you first, and only switches once you agree.

Why this one: Muse's 8.0 release notes say that when you set a goal, it builds the plan and tracks progress. This one only has it plan and check in; you still do the work.

Help me break a goal into small weekly steps: what the goal is, the deadline, and roughly how much time I can give it each week; ask me first about anything I haven't made clear. First write a week-by-week plan for me to see; after that, every Monday morning tell me the few things to do this week, and every Friday evening ask me how far I've got. If I fall behind, rework the rest of the plan, show it to me first, and only switch to it once I agree.
What to do: only use what I tell you to write the plan and ask about progress, and write the plan and any changes for me to see.
What not to do: do not add anything to my calendar, do not sign me up for or book any course, and do not contact anyone for me.
When to stop: stop when the deadline arrives or the goal is done, or when I say “stop the goal plan”.
