Subscription review

A monthly list of what your subscriptions cost, flagging price rises, ones you don't use and duplicates; it only suggests, and you decide what to cancel.

Who it's for: People with so many memberships and app subscriptions they've lost count.

What it does:

  • On the 2nd of each month, it goes through your account statements and billing emails and lists last month's subscription charges: name, amount and which account each one came out of.
  • It flags the ones that went up in price, the ones you haven't used in months, and the ones where you have two subscriptions doing the same job, and notes where to cancel each one.
  • It only gives you the list and suggestions. It won't cancel, change or start any subscription, and it won't contact any company.

Why this one: Muse's App Store description says it "audits subscriptions, flags charges you forgot about," and checks with you before it cancels or spends anything. This one only has it make the list; canceling is up to you.

Keep in mind: If you covered something for a friend and got the money back later, tell it ahead of time so it doesn't count that as your spending.

Copy for your Muse

On the 2nd of each month, put together a list of last month's subscription charges for me: name, amount and which account it came out of. Then flag the ones whose price went up, the ones I haven't used in months, and the ones that duplicate each other, and note where to cancel each subscription.
What to do: only read my account statements and the billing emails in my inbox, and write the list and suggestions for me to see.
What not to do: do not cancel, change or start any subscription for me, and do not contact any company.
When to stop: stop when I say “stop the subscription list”.
